A lifelong Trojan, Carmella was born in the North Central, before her family moved to Lansingburgh where she attended high school. Professionally, Carmella has worked for governors, both Democrat and Republican, as the Executive Director of the Hudson Valley Greenway and NYS Canal Corporation. While her career in public service took her to communities throughout the state, Carmella has never left Troy. Today, Carmella and her husband of 30 years Paul live in Sycaway and are the proud parents of two boys Pauly and James.
As the proud daughter of a decorated Troy Police detective, Carmella has always had a deep appreciation for the importance of public safety and an abiding respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. “Public safety is the first and most important responsibility of the government and as Mayor, I will work day and night to ensure that our police and fire have the personnel and the resources to get the job done,” Carmella says.

Since taking office in January of 2024 as the first female mayor in the history of the City of Troy, Carmella continues to get the job done. No more inaction or bandaid solutions to decades old problems.
In just her first term, Carmella has...
Putting people ahead of politics is how Carmella has brought Troy into an amazing rebirth. But the mission is far from over. There is still work to do. In 2027, Troy voters will have the opportunity to re-elect Carmella to continue keeping Troy Safe, Clean, and Moving Forward.

Carmella ran an for Mayor with a clear promise: make Troy safer, cleaner, and improve the quality of life for every resident. It wasn't a slogan - it was a commitment to restore confidence in City Hall, hold government accountable, and deliver real results for the people of Troy. Three years later, that promise is becoming reality. Our streets are cleaner than they have been in years. Public safety has been strengthened through proactive policing and partnerships that are taking criminals off our streets and holding offenders accountable. Neighborhoods that were once overlooked are receiving the attention and investment they deserve.
The results speak for themselves. Businesses are opening and expanding. Private investment is transforming our downtown and neighborhoods. Families are choosing to stay in Troy, and new residents are choosing to make Troy their home. Most importantly, people are beginning to believe in this city again—because they see a government that works, listens, and delivers. While there is more work ahead, Carmella Mantello remains committed to building on this momentum. She is running for re-election with the same determination she brought on day one: to keep Troy moving forward, make every neighborhood safer and cleaner, and ensure every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

Troy is known around the world as the home of Uncle Sam. We are proud of our stunning Gilded Age architecture, nationally recognized farmers market, rich history, and vibrant neighborhoods. But our greatest asset has never been our buildings or landmarks - it has always been our people. The strength of Troy comes from the hardworking families, small business owners, tradespeople, teachers, first responders, retirees, and young people who choose every day to invest in this city and its future. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Democrats, Republicans, Independents. Young and old. Lifelong residents and newcomers. Every person brings something valuable to the community we all call home.
When Carmella looks at the people of Troy, she doesn't see political parties, labels, or divisions. She sees Trojans - neighbors who work hard to provide for their families, build better lives for their children, and want clean streets, safe neighborhoods, and opportunities to succeed. She believes every resident deserves to be heard, respected, and represented, no matter where they live or what they believe. Because at the end of the day, we are One Troy. Every neighborhood. Every block. Every person. When we work together, there is nothing this city cannot accomplish.
